Marketing & Social Media Specialist

Qualifications

Primary Purpose:

 

To provide support for the District’s Communications Department in continuing to have a clearly defined marketing and social media strategies to increase brand equity, awareness, and engagement by working with staff to design, edit, and/or produce a variety of publications; provide creative and technical writing skills and expertise as requested; manage and update district’s social media channels; update the district webpage when needed; as well assist in the planning and coordination of special events, campaigns or initiatives.

 

Education/Certification:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field.

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must be proficient in using and publishing to various social media
  • Must be proficient in using social media management dashboards such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Facebook Business Manager, Facebook Creator Suite, TweetDeck, to name a 
  • Have experience planning, developing, and executing paid campaigns on Google or

  • Must be competent in InDesign, Photoshop and

  • Have experience in the field of public relations, marketing and graphic
  • Have experience with photography and video production, shooting, editing and knowledge of software/hardware needed to complete
  • Be able to read, write and speak both English and Spanish

 

Experience:

Have at least 3 years of experience managing, planning, developing, publishing, and evaluating content for numerous social media channels/platforms.

Experience in public relations or news media experience involving written and oral communications. Experience in planning, developing and executing marketing campaigns and initiatives for organizations.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  1. Manage the planning, development and execution of content programing for PSJA ISD social channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, as well any other new and emerging social media platforms as they become available.
  2. Plans, designs, writes, edits, proofreads and prepares high-quality content such as graphics, fliers, GIFs, videos for district communications within the school district, media and other
  3. Updates the district webpage as needed, as well as district social media channels
  4. Keeps PSJA ISD at the forefront of marketing and social media efforts by remaining updated and informed on latest developments and trends.
  5. Develops strategic communications and marketing plans to achieve district objectives while maintaining a consistent marketing message that strengthens PSJA ISD’s position in the
  6. Utilizes Facebook Business Manager and/or district’s preferred social media management dashboard to manageand oversee district’s social media presence.
  7. Helps achieve PSJA ISD’s marketing objectives by planning, designing and executing paid campaigns on platforms like Google Ads and other social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc.).
  8. Establish clearly defined goals and analyze metrics and analytics in order to evaluate and measure effectiveness of marketing and social media campaigns. Provide frequent reports to supervisors and team in order to make improvements or revamp efforts, as needed.
  9. Assists in strategic planning and the execution of annual campaigns for special events and districtwide initiatives as assigned and/or in cooperation with other staff members, departments, schools, or community.
  10. Excellent writing, proofreading, editing, and desktop publishing skills as well as ability to write creatively for numerous social media platforms.
  11. Photograph video or stills as necessary to complete assignments or during special events.
  12. Works well with others and maintains a high-level of professionalism when working with staff members, other departments, schools or community.
  13. Works with School PR Representatives and other school/district personnel as needed to provide continuing social media training, highlight campus and district achievements on social media as needed.
  14. Ability to perform a variety of tasks on short notice or with minimal direction and meet established deadlines.
  15. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
