Communications Specialist - Multimedia
Primary Purpose:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Communications, the Multimedia Communications Specialist will create and publish online multimedia content to support Dripping Springs ISD’s overall communication and marketing goals.
The position will create a variety of multimedia content for both internal and external purposes. The Multimedia Communications Specialist will work with the district communications team to highlight the achievements of DSISD students and staff including, but not limited to, feature videos, district/campus event recap videos, bond update videos, and superintendent video messages.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of industry experience required;
Degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field strongly preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of or experience with:
- Digital video equipment and production (filming, editing, audio, lighting)
- HTML and website publishing platforms (experience with Blackboard preferred)
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Various social media platforms
- Graphic design
- Basic photography
- Short-script writing and storyboarding
- Livestreaming
In addition, the candidate should have the ability to:
- Write and edit effectively
- Conduct interviews with students and staff
- Manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines

Experience:
Three years of experience in communications-related field strongly preferred
School district experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Public and Community Relations
- Support all functions of the Communications Office.
- Design, prepare and edit newsletters, brochures, programs or other collateral materials.
- Assist as needed with writing news releases, stories and website posts to announce programs or promote events and achievements.
- Create graphics to accompany promotional materials and posts.
- Produce and disseminate multimedia content to promote DSISD and its schools including videos, photography, social media, and podcasts
- Attend select district committee, community, and bond-related meetings and events in the evenings and on occasional weekends.
- Assist in the graphic design of district informational and marketing materials.
- Assist with special projects for community reports and marketing purposes (including support and promotion of the DSISD brand).
- Work with the Project Manager in preparing periodic bond updates for stakeholders.
Video/Photo
- Implement and support district-level videography efforts from conception to completion, including all necessary scripting, filming, content and overall creative design for district and campus events.
- Identify and develop ideas for videos to be used on district website and social media.
- Produce videos, presentations, and podcasts.
- Maintain district presence on YouTube and other social media video platforms.
- Video district and campus events to highlight on the district’s social media channels and website.
- Assist with photography for district publications, presentations, and displays.
- Remain current regarding trends, new technologies and software for video production and distribution.
Social Media
- Coordinate social media presence for district using various tools.
- Assist with social media planning.
- Create and manage content for social media.
- Support district communications and announcements with scheduled posts.
- Monitor feedback and community sites to identify trending district-related topics.
- Monitor trends and current issues regarding social media usage by public entities.
Web Administration
- Assist with overall web presence, accuracy, and accessibility for the district.
- Assist with troubleshooting technical issues that arise and work with Technology staff and vendors to resolve them.
- Assist in the development and communication of standards, regulations or policies regarding use of electronic communications.
Other
- Provide support and assist with special projects as needed.
- Work with district and campus staff in event planning for large events such as Convocation and Graduation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and coworker information and as required by FERPA.

Personal computer/Mac, digital/35mm/video camera, printer, multi-line phone system, copier.
Primary software used is Adobe Creative Cloud (Premier, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.).
