Primary Purpose:
Implement effective communication strategies to promote positive public relations between the school district and the community. Areas of focus are expected to include video production & photography; digital marketing & graphic design, and social media; but can include a variety of public relations and marketing tasks according to individual strengths and department needs. Assist the Public Relations and Marketing Officer in the activities of the Public Relations and Marketing Department.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree or higher with focus on communications, video production, digital marketing, preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to problem solve effectively
Ability to manage details effectively
Excels in providing an excellent customer service experience
Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively tailor presentations and communications to meet audience needs
Ability to research, plan, execute, and evaluate new technology
Ability to generate new ideas to enhance the district’s marketing activities.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure

Experience:
Video production and editing experience is required
Graphic design experience is required
Social media management and digital marketing experience is required
Five (5) years of experience in communications, marketing, or video production is preferred
Experience supervising employees is preferred
Experience working in school systems/education is preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Video Production & Photography

1. Produce a wide variety of videos, with processes and final results aligned to the goals of the District, the department, and each individual video project.

2. Complete all phases of video production, including planning, creating timelines or scripts, gathering information and visual/audio resources, scheduling locations and people, capturing footage, editing, and delivering final products.

3. Attend District functions as deemed necessary to photograph and/or record the event and edit the photographs/video footage for use in District marketing activities.

4. Work directly with outside vendors such as graphic designers, printers, photographers, and videographers for district marketing opportunities.

5. Lead District staff in photographing and recording District events and maintaining an internal library of photographs and video footage for use on websites, social media platforms, and District publications.

Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, & Social Media

6. Oversee copywriting, design, layout, mock-up, and production of promotional materials in cooperation with the Public Relations & Marketing Officer.

7. Manage advertising and promotional projects including print, electronic, and direct mail.

8. Support and manage the District’s social media pages with engaging and relevant postings; create content/graphics for social media engagement; monitor campus social media pages and provide support with technical issues, maintenance of privacy/terms of use, and appropriate responses as needed.

9. Oversee the District’s public/staff engagement strategy (ie internal newsletter).

10. Manage and oversee the PR & Marketing budget for advertising and marketing.

11. Strategize and implement brand identity for the District.

12. Connect with and train District employees to coordinate District branding, design, and promotional activities across all campuses and departments (ie student and staff content creators).

13. Assist in the creation of accurate and detailed information during special initiatives such as bond campaigns and board elections.

14. Create electronic and print publications, social media content, print ads, social media ads, brochures, strategic plans, videos, and other marketing materials to ensure alignment that supports the HEB ISD brand.

General Public Relations & Marketing

15. Attend committee meetings, chamber luncheons, school board meetings, and community special events as directed by the Public Relations & Marketing Officer.

16. Seek out and cover relevant and timely stories to engage audiences and promote the District in all mediums of dissemination. (May occur during irregular hours and on weekends.)

17. Serve as coordinator, creative director, and/or designer for large group projects and special events.

18. Develop and manage the District’s Content Creator Program. Identify the Content Creators and implement processes and procedures for the participants to adhere to.

19. Assist the PR & Marketing Department with crisis communications and support whenever necessary.

20. Attend board meetings and other District functions, as deemed necessary, to represent and further District goals.

21. Assist Public Relations & Marketing Officer to develop and facilitate department goals and processes as part of a systems approach to continuous improvement.

22. Attend appropriate conferences and workshops to stay informed on industry trends and professional practices, and disseminate information and ideas gathered with appropriate staff members.

23. Develop professional skills appropriate to job assignment.

24. Attend seminars and conferences in alignment with professional development.

25. Stay abreast of innovative practices.

26. Research and learn new technology, software, and industry trends in the field of marketing and school communications.

27. Research and learn new technology, concepts, and industry trends in areas related to job assignment.

28. Develop and implement content strategy for communications from the Public Relations & Marketing Department, so that communication content supports District goals.

29. Communicate technical information in a non-technical manner.

30. Demonstrate adaptability by incorporating changes in techniques and procedures.

31. Provide extended support and training for stakeholders.

32. Supervise assigned staff.

33. Utilize a systems approach to continuous improvement.

34. Support the goals and objectives of the District and follow District policies.
